Victoria Golf Courses
Highland Pacific Golf
Highland Pacific Golf is the newest addition to the Vancouver Island Golf Trail. Carved from the Highland wilderness in Victoria, Highland Pacific’s lush bent grass fairways thread through a majestic landscape of westcoast forest, rock, fescue and natural water features, boasting panoramic views of the city of Victoria, Olympic Mountains, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Bear Mountain and Thetis Lake Park.
The Pacific Nine opened in October of 2008 and has quickly become one of the jewels of the Vancouver Island Golf Trail, with wide, sweeping fairways, dramatic elevation changes and challenging greens. The Highland Nine, scheduled to open in the spring of 2010, boasts a similar test of golf with a wider viewscape of the city of Victoria, and will bring the total course yardage to over 6,600 yards. Highland Pacific is a definite “must play” addition for both locals and destination golfers!

Bear Mountain Resort – Mountain & Valley Courses
Situated in the foothills of Mount Finlayson with breathtaking views of Victoria’s seaside harbour, the 800-acre master-planned community of Bear Mountain Resort offers the best of both worlds: an idyllic natural setting and a location only minutes from
the alluring, sophisticated and charming city of Victoria, BC. In a spot that only nature could have conceived, Bear Mountain Resort offers a rugged and verdant mountainside landscape with vistas of the Olympic Mountain Range, the Strait of Georgia
and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Countless visitors have been drawn to Bear Mountain for its superlative golf only to discover
that the Resort’s incredible residential opportunities, Westin hotel accommodations, dining venues and recreational options are
equally stellar.
No name is more legendary in the game of golf and course design than Jack Nicklaus, and the developers at Bear Mountain Resort are the first to bring that name to Victoria. Originally introduced in 2003, the cornerstone of the Bear Mountain Resort community is the Jack and Steve Nicklaus co-designed Mountain Course, a 19-hole beauty that is the first ever collaboration of Jack and his son Steve. The Mountain Course is a masterpiece, offering challenging terrain and spectacular natural beauty. A par 72 playing at 7,212 yards, the course takes full advantage of its setting atop a 1,100-foot mountain, exhibiting dramatic elevation changes and awe-inspiring views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the Olympic Mountain range and the city or Victoria.
The Bear Mountain Resort Valley Course – the second of two Nicklaus Design golf courses at Bear Mountain – opened for play on June 1st, 2009, positioning Bear Mountain Resort as the only 36-hole Nicklaus Design golf offering in Canada. The Valley Course’s par 71, 6,807 yard, 18-hole Nicklaus Design is at a lower elevation than the Mountain Course but boasts the same spectacular west coast rock and water features for which Bear Mountain has become renowned. As Jack himself put it when discussing the Valley Course “I promise you this is going to be something pretty special”.
The Nicklaus designed Valley and Mountain courses are the cornerstone to Bear Mountain Resort’s premiere master-planned resort community. Bear Mountain Resort’s lush mountainside community defines resort living with a montage of residential and vacation real estate opportunities as well as The Westin Bear Mountain Victoria Golf Resort & Spa. Medical and traditional aesthetics at the Santé Spa ranked one of the top ten medical spas in the world by SpaFinder, a dining mecca with eclectic and world-class restaurants, the state-of-the-art Mountainside Athletic Club, a Nicklaus Golf Academy, red clay tennis facility and The Village round out the complete lifestyle experience, all within 25 minutes of the beautiful seaside harbour of Victoria, British Columbia.
